Development of a hypoallergenic, antibacterial and preferably wear-free implant

Strong in the network - Development of a hypoallergenic, antibacterial and preferably wear-free implant
The cooperation of several highly specialised manufacturing companies of different orientations and research institutions bundles its activities in the association "HAV-Implant", an innovative partnership for a higher quality of life in an ageing society. The aim is the development of a hypoallergenic, antibacterial and preferably wear-free implant, especially for hip and knee endoprostheses.
The target of the network partners is to provide answers from different perspectives to medical-biological and material/process engineering questions. Endoprosthetics should be raised to a new level of quality within the framework of research and development projects, and finally brought into application or care.
Partnership with pooled expertise and experience in the fields of medical technology, materials technology, surface treatment, plant engineering, measurement, and control technology
Transferring developments in mechanical engineering to medical technology
Development of optimal alternatives and options for given tasks, e.g. improvement of the accuracy of fit as well as the surface quality of the artificial articulation
Further development of manufacturing and processing methods for orthopaedic implants
Strengthening the market position by cooperative partnership
Expansion of the scope of services through full utilisation of the existing capacities within the network, and with supra-regional business expertise
Further development of the entire product portfolio through applied research and expansion of the business areas
The development and production of special machines for surface treatment and coating processes - as they are important in the network - are SMO's contribution to the HAV-Implantat (HAV Implant) research project.
