Development of a plant for an innovative and environmentally friendly process for gypsum extraction from clear liquor

P R O B L E M S T A T I O N

For centuries, gypsum has been used as a naturally occurring building material in many different forms. The raw material is partly supplied by mining the naturally occurring gypsum rock. However, it mainly comes from flue gas desulphurisation plants (FGD) of power plants using fossil fuels. Here the raw material accumulates as a by-product. Due to the planned phase-out of fossil fuels, there is a need for an alternative for the provision of adequate gypsum qualities.
